Coaching in an overwhelming uncertain world: Coach when it matters most

Coaching in an uncertain WorldWe’re living in a wild world. Jamais Cascio has named it BANI—Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, and often Incomprehensible, and I couldn’t agree more. Change comes fast (often daily), challenges stack up, and many of us are left quietly wondering: Where do I even begin?
That’s where coaching comes in!

At Coach Mentoring Ltd., we understand how overwhelming the world can feel. With over 20 years of this work, our coaches bring a wide range of lived experiences from across sectors and settings. Yet we’re united by a belief in the potential of coaching and mentoring to make a real difference.

Coaching in an overwhelming and uncertain world

I’ve spent much of my career working in unpredictable, high-pressure environments—responding to humanitarian crises, leading teams through major change, and navigating complex systems across countries and cultures. I know what it’s like to carry responsibility in uncertainty, to keep going when the path ahead isn’t clear, to be on board with organisational change for your team that you are just not sure about it yourself. That lived experience shapes how I coach: with empathy, steadiness, and a belief in people’s ability to adapt.

Reflective space

Coaching offers a rare space to reflect. I believe it’s a space where you can bring the conversations you can’t have with anyone else, not your manager, colleague, or even your best friend or family. It’s confidential, non-judgemental, and for that time together, it’s fully focused on you. Coaching creates space for exploration—it’s a space where you can reflect, breathe and think aloud about what really matters.

In times of uncertainty, coaching helps people do more than just cope. It might help someone feel grounded and energised, lead with purpose, and act with intention. Coaching supports you to get unstuck and navigate that complexity all around us.

Coaching. What’s in it for me?

You get clarity and momentum. You get a thinking partner committed to your growth—especially when the road ahead feels just a bit too uncertain.
