Many of the problems in workplaces, from lack of creativity to failure to use the spectrum of talent within an organisation, are at base communication failures. Prejudice and unconscious bias thrive wherever people do not feel able to have open and authentic conversations about difference. But these can be rapidly overcome when people are able to share and explore together their assumptions about each other—hence diversity dialogue.

#Blacklivesmatter – thoughts on Racial Injustice from Coach Mentoring Ltd
The whole world has been rocked by the appalling murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis. His sad death has been the catalyst to unlock the world’s feelings about the cruelty, overt discrimination and racial injustice against black people. This is not just a US issue, which is why protests are taking place globally. Racism is abhorrent and although as an organisation we do not normally comment on world events, in this situation, as we did with the Covid-19 pandemic, we feel we must speak out to counteract the apathy and indifference that allows this intolerance and prejudice to exist.
Finding my resilience to support my well-being during lockdown
Resilience is something I don’t usually lack—so why am I feeling anxiety and worry? The unprecedented lockdown conditions and uncertainly of what lies ahead after these times, have caused many of us to feel anxiety and worry—and quite rightly so. Ikigai adds purpose to Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapists
NSK Ltd approached Coach Mentoring Ltd to add value to their CPD days for Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapists. The Japanese manufacturer of Dental Instruments views Therapists and Hygienist as key influencers in decision-making when dental practices are procuring new equipment. They wanted to dedicate part of their development day to the balance of the lives of those who care for the our teeth at the ‘ground level’. The idea was to use Ikigai to add purpose and be a way of bringing lightness to some of the drier content in the technical side of peri-dental care.
Mental Health in the Workplace when it’s SAD, cold and dark outside
What can we do to improve our own mental health especially at this time of year? My yoga classes have been busy recently and the weather forecasts gloomy. Rain, rain and more rain. With the time change, we are officially in British Winter Time, or the northern hemisphere winter, we have significantly fewer opportunities to be outside in the day light.
