There should be a consensus that, over time, D&I management becomes unnecessary because diversity and inclusion have become a natural culture. There would be no diversity washing; everyone has developed empathy for difference, and those who repeatedly feel like a minority in everyday social life no longer feel that way in the workplace.
Mentoring Ambassadors bring diversity benefits to global programme
WWF has seen significant year-on-year increases in participation of its global mentoring programme. Diversity dialogue: learning conversations across the barriers of difference
Many of the problems in workplaces, from lack of creativity to failure to use the spectrum of talent within an organisation, are at base communication failures. Prejudice and unconscious bias thrive wherever people do not feel able to have open and authentic conversations about difference. But these can be rapidly overcome when people are able to share and explore together their assumptions about each other—hence diversity dialogue.

Our good friend David Clutterbuck has written an open letter on diversity in coaching (shown below). He discusses how AI systems tend to inherit existing biases in areas such as gender and race. Disability Mentoring in Higher Education
Interestingly in the same week as David Clutterbuck and Kirsten Poulsen have published their new book, “Developing Successful Diversity Mentoring Programmes: An International Casebook”, I have been given an assignment to support a disability mentoring programme in Higher Education with a remit to look at exactly what is going on within the programme and work with the team of mentors to make it more effective for everyone involved.
